It's really important to be in good communication with your child's school and teachers as much as possible. It's really important to be in good communication with your child's school and teachers as much as possible. School staff feel supported when parents work as a team with them in student learning and success and when our children know that we are in communication with the school and staff it tells our kids that we care, that education is important which does have an impact on their success at school. This may be an email to the teachers/principal in the beginning of the year letting them know that they can feel free to contact you and let them know the best way to do so, that opens the door, contact them for updates throughout the year and then share what you hear with your child. Attend as many events as you can, ask to see their work, encourage extra help as needed and above all praise and highlight your child's gifts and talents. Life is busy for many families and it is not always a reality to be at the school physically, know that what you do at home also makes a big difference.
